About the Sharpener ...
Allow me a moment to introduce myself. I am Janet Meyer, owner/operator of A Sharper Shear. I have been servicing clients since 2010 in Raleigh, Durham & beyond. Prior to establishing A Sharper Shear, I ran a successful residential & commercial cleaning business for over 20 years. Being a detailed oriented, mechanically inclined person, as well as handy with tools, shear sharpening seemed to be just the right fit. The opportunity came along and decided to go for it!
I had the chance for a one-on-one three-day course that allowed me to learn the art of sharpening fine stylist shears. I continue to take time to educate myself, as well as fine tuning my skills that will at the end of the day benefit you – the professional stylist that you are.
What I enjoy most about being a scissorsmith is finding a solution to a difficult problem. Sometimes a stylist will hand me a pair of shears that they've had in a drawer for months or even years because they either don’t work right, cut right, feel right or have even gone through the washing machine. To try to understand the problem, I’ll ask a few questions to determine the best course of action. Then when given permission, I will work hard to get the shears back in “like new condition.” Is it always easy? No, but I don’t shy away from the challenge if I think something can be done to fix the problem.
Why consider a Sharper Shear? Local Service Made Easy! In my years and experience I have come across quite an array of fine stylist shears. I will explain to you why or why you should not have your shears serviced. If you decide to allow me to service your shears, they won't leave your sight and you will get much more than just a sharpening job!
